Nakladatelství Brio vydávalo ve spolupráci s předními spisovateli a výtvarníky nádherně ilustrované originální příběhy a sbírky pohádek pro děti od šesti do dvanácti let. Pro starší děti, mládež a dospělé Brio nabízelo sebrané spisy pohádek a bajek od renomovaných spisovatelů, doplněné o to nejlepší z klasické literatury celého světa. V této tradici pokračujeme také my v rámci stejnojmenné edice.

Colour Moves focuses not only on abstract painter and colourist Sonia Delaunay’s art but also her avant-garde fashion designs from her own Atelier Simultané in Paris during the 1920s as well as textiles she designed for the Metz & Co Department store in Amsterdam in the 1930s. Applying her talents and theories to all areas of visual expression, including graphics, interiors, theatre and film, fashion and textiles, a trademark of Delaunay’s work is the sense of movement and rhythm created by the simultaneous contrasts of certain colours. The book features authoritative essays by Matilda McQuaid, Matteo de Leeuw-de Monti and Petra Timmer. The artworks are drawn from the cream of France’s museums, including Paris’s Musée des Art Décoratifs and the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, as well as many other distinguished private collections throughout Europe and the USA. • Includes more than 250 of Delaunay’s paintings, drawings, textiles and garments with related designs, fashion illustrations and period photographs. • Photographs of models and famous actresses of the day wearing Delaunay’s creations evoke the glamour of Jazz Age Paris in the 1920s. Colour Moves is published to accompany a major exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution in New York City in 2011 Matilda McQuaid has been at Cooper-Hewitt since 2002, and serves as Deputy Curatorial Director and Head of the Textiles department. She has organized exhibitions and publications on textiles and contemporary architecture and design, including Why Design Now?, Extreme Textiles and Josef and Anni Albers: Designs for Living. McQuaid also served at The Museum of Modern Art, where she curated numerous exhibitions relating to modern and contemporary architecture and design. Matteo de Leeuw-de Monti first met Sonia Delaunay in her Paris atelier in 1955, when he was a little boy. Delaunay’s longstanding friendship and artistic collaboration with his grandfather and father, Joseph and Hendrik de Leeuw, owners of the Metz & Co department store in Amsterdam, led him to an intensive study of her fabric designs, and he has initiated and contributed to numerous exhibitions and publications on Delaunay. Petra Timmer is a curator, researcher and author, and has served as co-director of TiMe Amsterdam Cultural Consultants since 2007. She is the author of many monographs and articles on the visual arts and design, including several articles on Sonia Delaunay’s textile designs.
