What does the future of urban living look like?

Joel Beath and Elizabeth Price explore this question drawing inspiration from a diverse collection of apartment designs, all smaller than 50m2/540ft2. Through the lens of five small-footprint design principles and drawing on architectural images and detailed floor plans, the authors examine how architects and designers are reimagining small space living.

Full of inspiration we can each apply to our own spaces, this is a book that offers hope and inspiration for a future of our cities and their citizens in which sustainability and style, comfort and affordability can co-exist. Never Too Small proves living better doesn't have to mean living larger.

Review

Colin Chee lives in a 38-square-meter apartment in inner city Melbourne and is constantly looking for inspiration and ideas on how to improve his small home. In 2017 he started making videos profiling the best interior architects in the small-format residential design space. These videos became a YouTube channel, Never Too Small. Within three years of publishing the first episode, more than 1.4 million people had subscribed. Now Smith Street Books has published Never Too Small: Reimagining Small Space Living, a curation of Chee's favorite designs from around the world, written by Never Too Small co-founder and the Editor of Nevertoosmall.com, Joel Beath and Elizabeth Price. --ARCHITECTS AND ARTISANS
